Eastern Assam bears glaring testimony of the bygone glorious Ahom era. Apart from the magnificent maidams of Charaideo, two lesser known maidams in Dibrugarh district assume much significance. History says that, Bormeslow and SarumeslowKonwari were the queens of Ahom ruler SwargadeoSukhampha or KhoraRoja who initially established his kingdom at Halaguri, presently called Salaguri. After their death the king built two maidams in memory of his queens Bormeslow and SarumeslowKonwari near Garuhora and Changmai village under Lengerimouza which stood the test of time to script history of its own. These two maidams spread across several acres of land are eye-catching even from a distance.
